CIRCUITERA FIELD GUIDE

Board Connection Canceled

Understand why canceling the browser port picker is a neutral selection outcome and how to choose a port again without losing your sketch.

What you see

The port picker closes without selecting a board. Circuitera’s upload cancellation path reports “Upload cancelled. No upload error.” when applicable.

Likely causes

  • The user canceled the browser selection dialog.
  • An AbortError or selection-time NotFoundError occurred without evidence of a physical port loss.

Diagnostic steps

  1. Separate cancellation from disconnect

Check whether a port had already been selected and whether Circuitera reports an actual disconnect. A dismissed picker does not prove a USB failure.

  2. Keep the current work

Local edits remain in the sketch. There is no reason to clear browser storage, reload repeatedly, or recreate the project.

  3. Choose a port intentionally

When ready, press Connect board again and select the device. If the picker is empty, use the port-not-visible guide instead of retrying upload blindly.

  4. Resume the normal workflow

Verify the sketch, confirm the board profile, and Upload only after selecting the intended port. If a previous connection is retained, inspect its state before changing it.

Board-specific notes

Selection cancellation applies to all profiles. Native USB reset/re-enumeration is a separate event; it must not be labeled a user cancellation when the device was actually lost.

Safe recovery

Retry selection when you are ready. No destructive reset, storage clear or sketch deletion is required.
