A clear next step when something stops.
Troubleshoot compiler errors, Web Serial connections, local saving, offline preparation, and updates in Circuitera.
A sketch does not compile
Read the first useful error in Problems or Build Output. Click its file/line to jump to the editor. Check declarations, missing headers, library support, and the selected board. Reconnecting USB does not repair source errors.
A board will not upload
Use a USB data cable, close other serial apps, and grant the matching port. Check MCU and bootloader selection, especially old/new Nano profiles. A generic USB bridge name cannot reliably identify the board. Read the actual handshake or verification error.
Find saved work
My Sketches uses local browser storage. Look in the same browser, device, and domain. A custom-domain change does not migrate old local storage. Export files before clearing data; sign in for your existing cloud projects.
Prepare for offline use
While online, open Offline and choose Prepare offline compiler. Wait for completion. Storage eviction can remove tools; reconnect and prepare again if assets are missing. Keep a separate backup of your sketches.
Apply an update safely
Use Update now or Later. Active operations postpone the update and local work is saved before reload. Public pages may show a newer release before an already-installed app accepts its update.
Understand access
Public Projects and bundled Examples need no password. Dot retains its separate access gate and service requirements. Neither a local convenience passcode nor a public tutorial bypasses Firebase account or cloud permissions.
